EOS650
I want to take the pick guard off of my Squire jazz. Would that be ok or would it hurt the instrument?

Machines
It will probably have routing underneath the pickguard that will look nasty with it taken off... same for most Fenders unfortunately.
Alastair
I have no PG and a routed fender, its black though so looks pretty cool IMO
EOS650
I've taken it off before, no exposed wires it's solid black underneath. Thanks!

MuseMatt
not knowing it's only there for a) looks B ) protecting your body finish from scratchware (scratchplates can be replaced, paint is more expensive to have redone) Edited September 26, 2008 by MuseMatt

Second, I wasn't sure if it would somehow mess up the pick-ups by getting dust in them or something. Just being safe. Oh, and I don't care about the paint job. The bass + amp was $300 so it's not really top notch stuff anyway....
Tait
yeah its fine to take them off but if you slap agressively or play with a pick agressively you will damage the finish, but you wont damage the pickguard. thats what its there for! (oh... and to look good)
