Bastav
Indeed it is. I find routing out cavities and trimming edges to be scarier than the kind of routing i did on the heel though Edited August 14, 2016 by Bastav

Bastav
On to the bridge, this is what I had after glueing three wenge bits together and cutting stuff away on the bandsaw Then fittting it to the slot at the butt end of the bass Then after a lot of sanding, filing, drilling, sanding and drilling... Also strung it up with a string or two just to check intonation and action, all good I think

PlungerModerno
Maybe it's just the pics, or my eyesight (or screen) failing me - but that bridge looks like one continous piece of wenge to me. If it's not - well done at hiding the join! It looks great anyway - kinda reminds me of a cross between a Type A hipshot style bridge: And RIM basses style of wooden string retention:

[/quote] Thanks, they joined together pretty seamlessly but the three pieces were all from the same big piece (that wasnt wide enough to make the bridge out of). I can just make out where they are joined in the first pic.

Andyjr1515
Now that's what I call an individual design! I envy clean routing like your pickup chamber and fretboard end and, as for that carve...top drawer
Bastav
Thanks andy, dont know that i would call my routing clean but this was certainly better than my last pickup routes! Edited August 20, 2016 by Bastav

Bastav
With that done there's just the slow process of finish sanding before grain filling and finishing so updates will probably be awhile...
TheGreek
Some nice projects on the go at the moment...
Bastav
So finishing this has been slow. I started, messed up, sanded back down, let it sit for a few months, started over and this is where im at now. The finish will be far from perfect but as long as i dont look too closely at it i should be good...
Andyjr1515
Well, I think that deserves another picture....sure looks pretty good from that sneak view!
