Hi all,

I'm looking for a p bass neck for a project. Allparts and Warmoth are out of my budget, so I'm weighing up the merits of Mighty Mite and Mexican Fender. Where does opinion stand on these? Are there any others worth considering? I prefer maple fretboards and satin-type finishes and I'm not keen on vintage tints.

Cheers,

Tobie

Thanks guys. Are there generally additional costs other than postage to import necks from the US?

Oh yes. You'll have to pay VAT and import duty - I can't remember for sure from the last time I looked into it, but I think import duty would be around 3% for a neck from the US. You may get away without the import duty depending on the total value, but remember that you'll pay VAT on the total including the shipping costs. Depending on the carrier you may get stung for a fee by them too.

Not trying to put you off (I've bought stuff from the US before), but just pointing out you need to consider the fees involved, otherwise you could get a nasty shock.

I ordered a P neck from eyparts in hong kong. http://www.eyguitarmusic.com/

cheap as chips and it is very nice.
It is fretless and a maple board (which they dont do anymore)
I think custom world guitars sell the same necks.
Also, Northwest guitars make fabulous guitar necks and bodies (according to the guy who works on my gear) and they have started doing bass stuff

Jesus, I didn't realise how much Mexican necks cost new! I've got one somewhere from before I upgraded it with a Shuker neck... there's not much left of that bass that's original though to be honest!

They look great, and heel adjustable! Shame they don't do a 7.25" radius bass neck as they offer a vintage spec guitar neck with this for strats and tele's.

I got one of these for my Souped-up Squire P.
I wanted the neck to be a close copy of my '75 Fender's neck.

£83, good quality, tweakable , good fit, cheaper than any other option I've seen and includes Kluson machines.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, can't see it, but their feedback is good and they have different types

I got a maple Jazz neck off them for my Precision, beautiful flame in it, really nicely finished as well.
