Guest bassman7755
The sound that you hear while playing is not the sound that everyone else hears, it only when you become 'everyone else' that you actually hear the sound that your gear makes. I'm sure that the sound that the guy who bought your cabs made is the sound that you make. It's like singing. The sound in your ears is nothing like the sound in another persons ears. It's only when you hear your singing, or even just your normal voice recorded, that you hear what others hear and that is normally frightening the first time.
Yeah you definitely hear things differently when your playing than where your just listening. I've noticed that pretty much all bass and guitar sound "better" when your not playing yourself. I remember I conversation with a guitarist when were watching a band, he was say how amazing the sound was and how it was just the sound he wanted himself, I told him that his sound was actually pretty much the same but he wouldnt believe me. It makes sense really because obviously when your actually play a good proportion of your brain is engaged in the playing but when you listening you hear all sorts of detail in the sound that you dont while playing. One tends to be more relaxed when listening. Unless you're at a Metallica gig, of course. Edited April 25, 2016 by discreet
