So where do I solder the capacitor thing ?

The best option. If you don't try you may never know the answer, I usually listen to The Lemon Song, when doing experimental electronics. I don't usually like Zepplin though (but the bass is cool).

I actually converted an East J Retro to a J Retro de-luxe, (Ie added a passive tone control).
John provided the control and if I remember correctly it was a dual concentric pot with 2 capacitors and fly leads.
The leads went to the "hot" of each pickup at the input to the pre-amp and a common to earth.
So effectively each pickup had it's own capacitor connected to it on the passive side of the pre-amp.
I'm pretty sure the diagrams are still available on the East Tone website.
