pfretrock
The answer's a lemon; suck it and see.
The best option. If you don't try you may never know the answer, I usually listen to The Lemon Song, when doing experimental electronics. I don't usually like Zepplin though (but the bass is cool). BassBunny
Thanks for all of your replies. I don't want to remove the Bartolini preamp, I use it a lot. It's just that with the East preamp that I had in my Modulus, it had a passive control too. I used to have the passive rolled off totally, and just used to adjust the highs using the active .
I actually converted an East J Retro to a J Retro de-luxe, (Ie added a passive tone control). John provided the control and if I remember correctly it was a dual concentric pot with 2 capacitors and fly leads. The leads went to the "hot" of each pickup at the input to the pre-amp and a common to earth. So effectively each pickup had it's own capacitor connected to it on the passive side of the pre-amp. I'm pretty sure the diagrams are still available on the East Tone website. Edited April 28, 2016 by BassBunny
