franzbassist
Hi folks What's out there at the moment like the SWR Amplite of a few years back? Small footprint power amp but with decent wattage. Any advice welcome.

obbm
I recently picked up an Extron XPA1002 1U half-rack 2 x 100w power amp to drive a butt-kicker for my personal monitor system but I've not tried it with a bass yet. With the same family of products there is the XPA1002 Plus which will give 200-watts bridged into 8-ohms. They often come up on Ebay http://www.extron.com/product/product.aspx?id=xpa1002 Extron are a well established company in the AV market and the amp seems well made although it does use some odd types of connectors which are not difficult to source. Of late I've been using a Sansamp BDDI going straight into the Effects Return of a TH500 bypassing the pre-amp. Sounds good.
Matt P
If it's a straight power amp you want then this might be an option, not cheap though. http://www.demeteramps.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=62&product_id=92 Matt
franzbassist
Thanks for all the replies chaps. Yes, something that's just a power amp is what I'm thinking, so the Demeter is just right, albeit pricey!
Happy Jack
Didn't you just sell one?
No, I had the version with eq, not just the power Something like this is what I'm after. Edited June 5, 2016 by walbassist
If was spending that sort of money I'd go for a puma 900 (or "eich 900" or whatever they have been rebranded as), could still be used as purely a power amp with the bonus of being a complete amp in an emergency. I've heard a top pro (you can guess who) testing it back to back with the Aguilar TH5 power stage only and with a Monique as the common pre-amp. The louder we turned it up, and the faster he played, the more you could hear the difference in quality. The Aggie is no slouch but the Demeter had greater note to note definition and a faster attack. To be honest, if it was me playing I'm not sure you'd hear the difference though!
