Double ball end strings for Status 5-string?

I need some new strings for my Status 5-string but the Status home site is showing unavailable at the moment. I did read a while ago there was some problem. Where else is to be recommended at the moment?

Stringsdirect have a number of brands of double ball strings. You can use single ball strings with the grub screws in the head piece as well.

I've happily used Elites double ball end from Stringbusters on assorted 5-string headlesses, including a Status.

Had a look at Stringsdirect, Elites are not in stock so it's either very expensive Rotos (nearly twice the price) or various flats which is not me. Thought about the grub screw, I'm just concerned that flattening the string as opposed to winding would cause damage that could result in a failure. I'm not a particularly hard player but do like to dig in with confidence. Anyone tried this and had any issues?

I spoke with Dawn a few days before the LBGS - IIRC the distributor has gone into liquidation so they're looking for a new supplier. I think they're talking to Newtone strings as a possibility.

Have only tried Rotos as an alternative to the Hotwires dbe, albeit on a 4 and they're very decent. Not sure about your budget, but the La Bella 5 string set for 40 quid at Stringbusters could be a good choice.

I got a set of Steinberger double ball ends, from GAK, I think, and they seem to be ok.
Sound like Roto 66.

Ordered some Elites from Stringbusters in the end, similar price to Status. Hopefully as good, I've used Status for years and love them. I hope their new supplier is as good!
