The GroovyPlucker Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Anyone have any experience with the NY151 Black Line cabs. I have a NY151 and was gonna buy another, but I see the black line variation is a lot cheaper. wondered if it's voiced differently to the standard NY or is it just cheaper components, i.e. non italian made etc. Might look quite neat stacked underneath my standard as opposed to the full blossoming yellow flower look of two standards. cheers in advance The GroovyPlucker Quote
machinehead Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 It's not easy to get the specs of the Markbass speakers but I'd guess the Black Line is cheaper because it has cheaper speakers. I would prefer to get two identical cabs even it was more expensive, but that's just me. Frank. Quote
The GroovyPlucker Posted May 6, 2016 Author Posted May 6, 2016 cheers frank, I'd probably prefer two the same as well, kinda caught between two worlds really, still might take the plunge later, really impressed with the markbass ny151 though, at first test anyway, haven't gigged it yet, never got on with my cmd121 combo, but like the 1x15, small and neat package, just like me...... machinehead Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I still regret selling my CMD121P combo! I found it so useful for rehearsals and pub gigs. I had a 15" Traveller cab at the same time and the two combined seemed to work OK for bigger gigs. Anyway, I hope you get sorted. Frank. Quote
The GroovyPlucker Posted May 7, 2016 Author Posted May 7, 2016 that combo really put me off markbass, found it very tight and sterile tbh, but i've come around to them more now, like the tightness of the 151, but it has more tonality than i previously thought, using it through my tc elec 800W, not sure about markbass amps tho, but they look as cool as f**k, like the look of the little rocker......
