leftybassman392 Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 (edited) I have this thing about the movie 'O Brother Where Art Thou?' and I just can't get past it. I keep coming back to it time and again. I'm not remotely religious (technically I'm an Agnostic Sceptic for those who like things in neat little boxes), but the soundtrack to this movie does such an outstanding job of conveying time and place that I can't imagine it otherwise. Here's perhaps the best known song, sung by the man whose voice you hear in the movie working at his day job. Watch out for the lap steel playing. Enjoy. bornagainbass65 Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Great choice Leftybassman392! Here's a 'gospel genre' feel good song that agnostic sceptics (and anyone else) can enjoy. From the great Mavis Staples... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dz-hXCIWhU Quote
4stringslow Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I'll raise your Mavis Staples and add Aretha into the mix with this little gospel gem . . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wb7D-W-QW-8 Quote

It's still a lap steel guitar though. The giveaway is the square neck profile. He just happens to be playing it standing up is all. cameltoe Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 (edited) My favorite track from this movie has to be Chris Thomas King's version of Skip James' Hard Time Killin' Floor Blues. Incredible. http://youtu.be/hENJKNmoKdo Edited May 10, 2016 by cameltoe Quote
