Bass Identification

A friend has acquired this Bass from a colleague.
Any ideas what it might be (I'm guessing late 70s catalogue POS). It's 30" scale.
I think it looks kinda cool...

The body shape and pickguard look identical. The neck and headstock a little different - a later model??

Looks like a different scale length too? Check the bridge positions of the two basses.

Late 60s MIJ, possibly made by Kawai or Teisco.

Might be the same as used on some Jedsons, but Jedson was just an importer brand. Owned by J. E. Dallas & Sons Ltd (subsequently Dallas-Arbiter), if you're interested.
