One of my faves, too. I have a video of them playing/recording it at some house they rented for the BSSM sessions.

There used to be the full length documentary on there; an excellent and interesting watch, as long as you like RHCP! :D

One of the best RHCP songs ever. And yes, great melodic work from Flea. And it was only released as a B-side and on a soundtrack album. :(

I'd forgotten that! I got the Give It Away single with a couple of remixes and it was on there IIRC. Still have it buried somewhere..

[/quote]. It was a two cd single. Remember them? The only chillis single I ever bought. My fave song of theirs. Not listened to anything post californication though

Yes on the coneheads soundtrack, which I bought just for that song.
Lovely laid back groove, one of their finest moments.

Gotta love it, always have done.
It's been on the "songs to be played at my funeral" list for ages.
I bought Plasma Shaft as I'm a bit obsessive about the chilis and I just expected it to be full of remixes and throw away b-sides, when it came on I remember looking up from the other side of the room and staring at the stereo in a kind of "what is this?' type way, picked up my bass and transcribed it on the second listen.
Later that day I recorded it on to cassette and sent it to my mate who was at Uni and said "you've GOT to listen to this"..
A friend of mine is equally crazy about the song and when they played it at London Arena just before By The Way came out she instantly burst into tears, I think she took it a bit far really..

Yes brilliant b-line. I love Flea's melodic basslines like this one; really enjoyed learning to play it some years back.

:)
