JTUK
I think you'd have to be pretty pleased with it ticking so many boxes. I'd be well pleased in those woods choices came up that well... the flame and dark R/W nail it and the bass sounds great as well. I can hear that S112 working and the bass has got that greasy sound right down. I was waiting to hear the rear pickup on its own...but the sound is getting gnarly with the front pickup just backed off. Which pickups and pre are they..? I'm looking at a Glock pre amp swap at moment and I thought these basses used them sometimes?
RhysP
Which pickups and pre are they..?
From the info earlier in the thread (post #9) they are the makers own pickups & the bass is passive.
Here's something I did in a spare two minutes to show the difference between the P and the 'bucker. The bass is just DI'd, no EQ, just a smidge of compression. There's a couple of bars of P, the rest is the humbucker solo'd. https://soundcloud.com/wateroftyne/maruszczyk-jake-p-vs-humbucker
Twincam
Lovely looking bass. I do have one question do you have a recording of just the bass and amp. Just I find it hard to really hear nuiences of something over the backing track etc.

Straight into Adobe Audition, no effects or anything. https://soundcloud.com/wateroftyne/handbox-r-400-amp-demo-clean-tone-p-humbucker-p-solo-humbucker-solo

It really jumps out when you solo it.

I like the hb at the rear, sounds better than the thin honk of a single coil , while still giving the treble to mix in.

A bridge single coil pickup on its own has really one purpose, IMV and that is to do Jaco... It is surprising how many J basses pickup's can't do that, IME. Having said that, That Hausel has a nice tone to it... but as always, this is a huge variable when the construction differs..

Schnozzalee
How do you find Maru Basses in comparison with your Vintage Fenders? (You can tell I've been away a while - Just found out what a Limelight was a couple of weeks ago)

These feel just like it (the neck profile was specced specially), and they're lighter.
