discreet Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 It's a faux first-world recreation of a third-world instrument. Quote

BigRedX Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Nothing wrong with a oil-can guitar. If I could find one I'd snap up an Afri-can model in a heartbeat. Quote
EssentialTension Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Oil-can guitars are very common in southern Africa (and maybe the rest of Africa for all I know). Son of ET and me were at a stall in a market in Durban. The stallholders were very proudly in possession of a Fender Stratocaster and were somewhat flummoxed to find we were not so bothered by a Strat and were more interested in their oil-can guitars, which played and sounded great.
