good day BCers

do you know any decent compressors under 100$ to use as an effect to add punch/attack/fatness to my tone? with zero loss of lows.
i mostly play with a pick or finger-style. don't care much about limiting or smoothening. no slap n pop.

thanks in advance

Not listed there, but the TC Electronic Spectracomp has so many adjustable parameters via the app and downloadable presets it should be able to cop any compressor tone you could imagine. It's also one of the cheapest on the market!

Strangely, I tried the MXR and wasn't massively into it, plus the unit came to me looking used.

I then bought a Boss LMB-3 for lower than retail on Amazon, and a Budda Chakra off ebay (still cheap on Amazon) and they seem to be less 'transparent' which is what I was aiming for....a more obvious change, but they can do subtle.

It won't allow me to copy the link at work! Go on Amazon and search for Budda Chakra and buy it for £49!

I'm using a Palmer Deepressor and loving it for this kind of effect. With the sustain control kept low at about 8 o'clock and the attack control wound up to about 3 o'clock I'm getting some serious punch and some nice thickening but keeping full control of my dynamics. Currently under £55 on Thomann.

Yes! By a country mile!! Using the TonePrint Editor you have access to more parameters than any compressor pedal on the market, even reassigning what the control knob does!

thanks a lot. i'll stay away from ross/dynas, i hated my mxr supercomp too, though i bought it because of the attack knob for exactly what Jus Lukin mentioned above*. but that thing just kills the lows i like. replaced it with an ehx bass preacher (featuring the attack control again), it's action is a bit subtle for that effecty type of job (in my personal taste). still does a very good job of smoothening, very transparent it is. that's a keeper for when i need that type of compression.
those CS-3, buddha and Palmers look to be cool and all feature an attack control. seems that the TC is not for me because i don't feel like tweaking a lot, programming etc. but thanks for your input friends.

*Edit: in fact, as labeled on the knob, that's a control for the attack LEVEL not the attack TIME.
