I have a Kramer The Duke headless. The bridge is a Fender-style BBOT. Can anyone tell me whether this design is original? I ask because the E and G strings do not sit over the pup poles, and therefore I suspect that this bridge is a replacement and that the original bridge had a narrower spacing.

Any info gratefully received! Thanks for reading :)

The majority of the pics I see online appear to have a Schaller 3D (sometimes Kramer branded, sometimes not) but I've seen pics with BBOT and even Badass bridges. A Schaller 3D would take care of string spacing, being adjustable that way.

BigRedX has, or had, one of these basses - it might be worth asking him.
From what I can remember of the couple we had in the shop back in the 80s they came with Schaller bridges.

I had the Hondo copy, which came fitted with a copy of the Schaller 3D bridge.

Oh, sorry - I thought you had the Kramer one.

I should have thought of that... I have an Alien which I haven't had out of its case for at least two years. D'oh... I'll report back.
