darkandrew Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 (edited) I have a Gibson Les Paul studio in Faded cherry (ie. Stained dark red with a thin satin cellulose lacquer on top). It's tone is great but I just don't get on with the neck (50s profile). Should I get the neck re-profiled or just sell and get a new one? Edited May 25, 2016 by darkandrew
Schnozzalee Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 How long have you had it? It may just take some getting used to - I love the 50s profile! If you're certain you want to change, I would like to trade with someone who doesn't like the 60s neck.
darkandrew Posted May 23, 2016 Author Posted May 23, 2016 I've had it for about 6 years now, so I've had plenty of time to get used to it. I think that the main problem is that I also have a couple of ESP Eclipses whose necks are a lot thinner, and this stops me becoming accustomed to the thicker necked Les Paul. It's a real shame because it has a really great tone that is very different to the ESPs.
Schnozzalee Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Oh right! Well, yeah - I owned an ESP for 4 years and that narrow 'U' is fantastic. If you've had the Gibson 6 years then it's obviously a good one, so I would get it re-profiled in that case.
