Envelope filter -Compresser - Which one first in the chain?

I thought the Compressor comes first after tuner but I've recently seen the filter first. What's your advice? I like the filter first

Filter first for me too.

Otherwise the compressor can shut down the transients needed to trigger the filter properly. With extreme compression settings sometimes the filter won't do anything at all.

My Envelope Filter works better after my compressor, but it's only set to tickle off the peaks; -2 or 3dB at the most.

Envelope filter is controlled by the dynamics of your playing (i.e. how hard you attack the note) and a compressor is used to even out the dynamics. Envelope filter is one of the few pedals I'd always have in front of a compressor.

Depends on the filter's envelope follower. If it sounds good first then compressor after, otherwise the compressor might help to give the filter a signal it can deal with. I'd always try filter first first though.

Going to stick with the filter first Si, just questioning the science. I've got a octaver on the way too, After the compressor I think?
