WITHDRAWN: Kramer Striker 700ST Black/Maple £150

This has been my number one choice of spare bass for the last 8 years but I'm moving to lighter gear so this has sadly moved down the rankings.

Weight is 4.2 kg (9 1/4 lbs)

Everyone that picks it up says what a great bass it is but they're rarely heard of this side of the pond (only 4 hits on this forum). And in the US of States, Mum's apple tart and chocolate chip biscuits, everyone talks highly of them but you can't give them away. Which is a shame because they're a quality product.

I'll tell you what I know, mostly gathered from internet research (you can probably research better): Early 90s, Korean made. That's about it.

It has a good old-fashioned thick and wide p-bass type neck. P pick-ups are great I've even had it growling like a P. J doesn't add much in my opinion, you might think different.

I've just had the volume pot replaced and a light set up done by Matt at Music Cellar in Preston - great job. I've still got the original pot if you want it, but it's shot.

Reasonably recent set of RS66LCs on it, you may prefer, and it may well suit, heavier. Dings a-plenty, as befits its age, mostly on the back of the body. And mostly from before I got it.

Hi. It has a 3-way pick-up selector switch - towards bridge = j, middle = both, towards neck = p. Then one volume pot (nearest neck), the one I had replaced, and two tones - one for each pup.

If only there was some love for these Kramers they really are a quality product. It's up there with my MIM precision without a doubt. And half the price!

PS. Trying to date the bass more accurately from the mixed bag of information out there - it could be nearer late 80s than early 90s. The headstock changed over the years from this one with different writing, through this one to one they call the "banana" shape.

One near identical to mine FS at a small privately owned brick and mortar music store in the foothills of Northern California where they take pride in their selection, service and competitive prices . . .

I'm running out of interesting "facts" to bump this with.

I know if someone picked it up and played it they would be impressed with the p-bass sound, the fantastic neck and the quality over and above anything else at this price.

If only it were in a shop but again at this price it wouldn't be worth them taking it on a commission sale.

I'd love it to go to someone who would appreciate it. But if it doesn't that well known auction site beckons, sadly.
