Weird War Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 (edited) Tricky one this, but my London band is looking for a cellist. I've posted ads on-line, in Greenwich (where I live) and at nearby Trinity College of Music so far, but wondered if BCers had any other suggestions? Is there a cello equivalent of Basschat?? I imagine we'd get along rather well! Anyway, any ideas appreciated. Edited September 29, 2008 by Weird War Quote

Also, try the music colleges like ACM..another way is to ask other classically trained musicians if they have any friends who are cellists; it's quite a small clique of people in the classical world, so they'll all know other orchestra players.. Hope that helps and good luck! Quote
YouMa Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Hang around studenty folk type pub gigs, theres always those types hangin out there. Quote
phil_the_bassist Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 we've got a cellist playin with us at a charity thing in a few weeks, and I know she comes from london. I don't know whether she'd be up for your band (as I get the impression she's a proper, full on, hardcore classical type) but she might well know some other cellists who're up for it! I'll ask, and get back to you! Quote
waynepunkdude Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 (edited) I blame this it just stops people from actually picking up the cello. Edited September 30, 2008 by waynepunkdude Quote

tauzero Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Funnily enough, the cellist that has played a couple of gigs with the ceilidh band I'm in has just started university, and he's at That London. Shall try to remember to contact him and see if he's looking for anything. Quote
noelk27 Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 There are at least two cellists on this site - and I'm one of them. But the petrol money I'd spend coming down from Glasgow every week would mean I'd never be able to get a round in at the bar - and we all know the impact that sort of behaviour can have on a band! OutToPlayJazz Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 LOL, I'm the other one I bet! Sounds as if you're looking in the right places so one will turn up sooner or later Quote
