project_c
very nice, I would buy one too if it had a maple neck. Did I notice you mention elsewhere that this is more expensive than a normal p in the USA? Seems to be cheaper here for some reason.
Quatschmacher
There's also a Fender USA Precision Bass Special (P body, J neck, passive PJ with VVT). I have one for sale in the marketplace but it's a rosewood neck. Sadowsky Metro Hybrid PJ is another option.
EliasMooseblaster
Schecter Model T? Not the easiest to come by, but you could probably grab one for about half the prices quoted in your OP. P/J Duncan* pickups, with a neck profile much closer to a Jazz than a Precision; you can pay a bit more for an active version, but I've got one of the passives. When I was shopping, the options were blonde body/RW board or sunburst body/maple board - conveniently enough for your criteria! I tried both and went for the blonde/RW model myself, but I remember the burst/maple one having plenty of 'snap' to it. *not a Byker Grove reference... bopeuph
My favorite bass is my '57 Reissue Precision with a Geddy Lee neck. Plays amazing. Here it is sitting right next to Duck's '66 precision with Jazz neck: [Img]http://i.imgur.com/pNrgzuE.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> Edited February 4, 2017 by bopeuph
Paul S
Peavey Fury. Made in USA, fantastic build quality, usually described as sounding like 'a Precision on steroids', really slim neck, both width and depth - similar dimensions to a Geddy Lee Jazz, I would say. Because it says Peavey on the headstock you'd probably have £1250 change, too.
prowla
I just sold the neck from my MIM Precision bass on here. I purchased a Fender Jazz neck from Amazon of all places, the last Mexican Jazz neck I could find for sale with a rosewood board! I'm still working on the neck, as the frets needed leveled and crowned. The board also needed scraped and oiled, as it had a mist coat of lacquer on the wood. It came without tuners or a string tree fitted, and the nut definitely needs filed. A big step towards getting my ideal bass though, as I've been wanting a Jazz-necked Precision for a while.
Yep - the obvious thing is to buy a P and put a J neck on it.
