I've asked the mods if this is ok.
The background.
A friend lost a friend a little while back. The widow asked my friend to deal with his gear.
My friend asked me for advice, I've had a look and there seems to be a myriad of Fender Bassman.

PLEASE NOTE, I will not be involved in ANY part of this sale, just going to help him with research.
Or hopefully you guys will :D

So,
1. Any idea of the model/specs
2. I would be grateful for any idea of a sensible price for him to put it out at. PLEASE ONLY DO THIS BY PM (so I don't get a mod spank  )

I have no interest in buying this stuff myself, my spine hurts looking at the labels

Hope you can help Fender Valve Experts,
cheers,
Karl

Some very nice looking kit in super cosmetic condition, too good to use :) Silverface Bassman 100 (obvious), http://www2.fender.com/support/articles/amplifier-product-dating/ and http://www.ggjaguar.com/fendamp6.htm will help dating the year of manufacture. Your spine hurts, my wallet is feeling the potential pain :)

Nice very very nice. Those links should tell all you need to know about dates. Sometimes the circuit version number is stamped in ink on the inside label identifying the valves, but AFAIK there aren't many variants of the 100 anyway. It is the Export version. Looks like the voltage selector is set for 230V rather than 240V (the short end is the pointer) BTW.

PS: If you're not familiar, single jack speaker connection to the amp must be to the left socket looking at the back of the amp - HTH !

Many thanks folks really appreciate your help as does Anton.

Don't think he's looking forward to selling this for the lady as it's becoming clear it's desirable kit BUT there will be effort required to prove it's provenance and of course to deliver to interested parties.

He now knows what he needs to do, rather him then me, it's not a 112 and PUMA head to courier is it

Thanks again everybody,
cheers,
Karl.

You're welcome Karlfer. Actually it's not that heavy, despite it's appearance. I can just about get my cab into the car on my own, though 2 peeps is better. The head is not that heavy at all in the scheme of things. But I wouldn't recommend courier, because it is such good cosmetic condition, and would be difficult to pack well I think. Collection by the buyer is best. Good luck for all concerned and hope whoever buys it loves and respects it !

Indeed, here's a photo of our's; if you look carefully you can see the unique handle placed in the centre of the side...

It's a clumsy lift for anyone, mostly by its bulk, and goodness knows what this does to one's back, if not balanced by something in the other hand, but it's not filled with concrete like Trace cabs. Our HH, on the other hand...

Many thanks folks (including Michael and Ped) you lot have got me gassing now  :P

Long story, I've recommended he gets it all fully checked out by a specialist for this lady. I've also recommended avenues of sales when it's all checked out.
Here and 3 specialist bass dealers who do commission sales.

I'm going to slink out quietly now before I get any more involved.

Douglas, 6 string fretless and vintage cab, how very dare you allow such heresy
