In Ear Stage monitoring

Hi all,
Hope you can help me with some advice on this subject....

Have just joined a Blues Brothers Show Band in the London area and whilst
we have a massive PA system & desk, we are severely lacking in 'on stage
Monitoring' The sound engineer is keen to get powered floor monitors, but the
band members would prefer In Ear !! I know most of the pro's and cons
regarding 'in ear' v 'floor' and having used 'In ear' before that’s the way I want to go.

My plan is to have the band (who are static) kitted out with a 'wired In-ear' system
via 2 x 4 channel Headphone pre-amps (Behringher???) fed from the mixer output with
one each side of the drum kit for the band & horn sections. Jake & Elwood would use a
wireless system (Trantec ???) . Have you had any experience with this type of set up ?
and is there any specialist shops within a 50 mile radius of central London that you
could recommend where we could try this type of system out. We have a number of
prestigious gigs coming up and need to get this sorted straight away !!

I have used the hard wired technique for a long time. It is great and much easier to carry than wedges

I use a Samson headphone amp which has been rock solid. I have never used a piece of Behringer kit which has lasted.

Thanks Owen,

The Behringer amp that I had in mind is identical to a Sansom one I've seen, except for a flashier case !!
I always thought Behringer was pretty good for the price ?

I teach on a Music course. We bought a bunch of Behringer desks, big and small. About 6 of them. None of them work anymore. Price is only good if you don't have to shell out again. Just sharing my experience.
