liffordmark
Lads and Ladies, what suggestions would you have for an upgrade. The bass at the moment a bit top ended and I'd much prefer a nicely rounded sound with nice low mids. Delano maybe?? Aguilar?? Barts?? EMg??? Etc etc. Any suggestions would be most welcome. JTUK
I'd look at the Aguilar line-up because I think their tone bias on the amps is not too toppy...and if they carry that into a brand concept for the pickups then they'll be worth a look. There is a pretty good you tube link which showcases 4 Aguilar J pickups
dannybuoy
Sounds like you are describing DiMarzio Model J's! They have two coils side by side, kinda like a P pickup rammed into a Jazz housing.
Westenra
Has anyone tried those SD Apollo ones yet?
mcnach
I'm a big fan of the DiMarzio Area J pickups, if you don't want to spend a fortune but still sound great. They're humbuckers but very traditional sounding for a humbucker... only fatter. If you don't care about cost, the Nordstrand NJ4SE pickups are my absolute favourite. They sound thick and defined and just lovely all round.
