My New Mad Bass

Just won this on ebay.Haven't got it yet .But I am very pleased. I really like unusual basses and this one fits the bill very nicely. Very high spec bass with in built tuner (on jack output) and those awesome q tuner pickups. Can't wait to try it out for the first time.

There was also a pretty cool looking 5 that was reduced from £599 to £499.
I'll give a review when it arrives..but I lack the facilities to post pics and sound samples.

My thoughts exactly...that's why I was asking about q tuners..I was so glad that you said they were excellent. The other thing that attracted me was that it was Bass Number 1...the original working prototype. I am a sucker for any kind of experimental/prototype instrument!!

There is no denying the quality of the Q-Tuners. Erno Zwaan (who makes them) has informed me that he is now using black coil wire as well as the red.
What I do find strange looking at the website for the bass you bought is the list prices compared to the prices they are going for on ebay !!! You have certainly got a bargain, if its as good as it looks.
It does appear that another maker has come on the scene at just the wrong time and I know all about that...
