scrumpymike Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 (edited) If you're looking for a unique bass that offers all the playability of a short-scale while retaining the 'presence', balance and substantial feel of a 34" standard, then this is for you. That, plus a unique pup/control set-up that allows rapid switching between a wide range of tones, is why I couldn't wait to get one as soon as I heard about them. The custom-shop design and colour are obviously a subjective thing, but personally I love the way it looks too (sorry, only group pic available but I'll take some more). Here's the spec: Scale length - 30"; Construction - maple body / neck; Fretboard - 9.5"-radius rosewood with 21 medium jumbo frets; Width at nut: 42mm; PUPs - 3 x Seymour Duncan 'lipstick-tube' Strats; Controls - volume, tone, 5-position Strat-type switch with push/pull knob enabling 7 pick-up combinations. Condition (including hard case) is mint/as new with no sign of wear as this bass hasn't been played much. So why would anybody want to sell what is probably the best bass they have ever owned? Only because they have a dodgy shoulder for which 9 1/2lbs is about a kilo too much nowadays - and I'm really pissed off about it. Thunderbird Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Typical been on the look out for one of these but is too heavy for me bollocks GLWTS mate
scrumpymike Posted July 2, 2016 Author Posted July 2, 2016 I hope this link turns 2 people on: one to buy my Rascal, and the other to buy Scott's (preferably in that order ). scrumpymike Posted July 15, 2016 Author Posted July 15, 2016 OK, £50 price drop to £545. You guys don't know what you're missing - as Scott Whitley says in the demo vid I've linked above, this is the best 'off the peg' s-s bass out there. If it weren't for my shoulder injury, it's the last thing I'd be selling!
scrumpymike Posted July 28, 2016 Author Posted July 28, 2016
Wish i'd the cash for this...
If you're playing the lottery this week I'll have my fingers crossed for you!
scrumpymike Posted September 2, 2016 Author Posted September 2, 2016 Well, you could knock me down with a feather! I've sold 4 of my other basses on this forum since putting this one on - and the Rascal still hasn't sold! How weird is that because it was the best of the lot for me.
Savethedaves Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Man, I love these basses. Have a free bump on me! I'll be taking it off you if it's still here in four weeks!
scrumpymike Posted October 3, 2016 Author Posted October 3, 2016 Hey Dave, that's good hear - thanks for the bump!
Marc S Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Love the look of this bass (sadly, I already have too many, or I'd be quite tempted) Just wondering what the sound and sound controls / options are like - in that this bass has 3 pickups? Sorry to hear of your shoulder woes GLWTS
scrumpymike Posted October 11, 2016 Author Posted October 11, 2016 Soon be Christmas - time for another bump!
scrumpymike Posted October 25, 2016 Author Posted October 25, 2016 Scott Whitley had one on his own Shortscale Bass website and the 'bay at the same time as I put this one on here - I know that one's sold.
scrumpymike Posted November 8, 2016 Author Posted November 8, 2016 Bump! Had a quick look at new prices today and the only remaining examples I could find in the UK were selling for £767 at both dealers. Mine's as good as and comes with a case - surely must be good value.
