Dr strings - cant find nickel lo-riders

Anyone else having hassle finding 5 string DR Nickel Lo-Riders (NMH5-130)
Seems to me there out of stock everywhere.

I've seen 45-125's around. They generally sell faster than the 130's so most people either don't stock the 130 or just order in small numbers

Looking expensive now following last week's referendum.

10% more than UK price (plus they charge for shipping and lots of UK people offer shipping for free)

i usually get them from Strings Direct but they have been out of stock for months now.

Yip, being using bass specialties for a couple of years now, will never buy strings anywhere else. Takes about 10 days for them to arrive but totally worth it for the savings.

While we're at it.....can you tell me why you use lo-riders? I just ordered a set, having used Sunbeams for the last year or so. What do you like about the low-riders?

Much warmer tone, they have a smoother feel and they have a higher tension. Whats not to like.

Do you play any slap? I find the Sunbeams the best I've played yet for plucking, due to the high tension, but not brilliant for slap. I have to work a lot harder to get the effect. Probably due to the tension more than anything else though! I'm looking for a string that plucks like a DR but slaps really easily, like a Dunlop Super Bright (which doesn't pluck particularly nicely as tension is insanely low).

La Bella RX Nickels. I've been a Sunbeam user for two years. Tried Super Brights but the tension was just too low. RX Nickels sound like Sunbeams with a bit more punch and a touch more tension. If you use 45-105 Sunbeams go for the RX 45-100 gauge. Thank me later.

Yeah, delivery is about 1 week-ish. I'm never in any rush to get them though.

Lo-riders will, in theory, be higher tension to Sunbeams due to being hex core strings. Sayin' that I don't have any problems with slapping, on both 34" and 35" but I've been using higher tension strings for about 2 years now so i've kinda grown used to them

I just put Lo Riders on my Sterling and they are superb for plucking but I'm not crazy about them for slap.

I take it back - I tweaked my set-up tonight and its playing fabulously. These slap pretty sweetly now, definitely better than Sunbeams. I've still to try Hi-Beams and Fat-Beams, but I'm definitely a DR guy a this point. Big fan.
