Pow_22
Got this pedal in a good deal on here and love it as an 'always on' effect to beef up my tone and add a little hair when I dig in. Just curious as to any users who have done any tube rolling in these units? Being starved plate design are they very receptive to different valves of the same type (12AX7)? I've seen some comments on changing them for lower gain types like 12Au7 but I don't want to lose that subtle breakup. The only 'problem' I currently have is when engaged I do find that the G & D strings can get lost a little bit even with the bright switch engaged. As such I may try a brighter 12AX7 like a RI Tung Sol or something like that. Any users have any experience? doctorbass
I changed to this old Mullard ECC82 and it works a treat. Ive also recorded with this set up and it sounded great. Less gain but you can still get quite gritty with it Edited July 2, 2016 by doctorbass

paul_5
12AX7 is the American name for the British ECC83, just as 12AU7 is the 'murican for ECC82. I used to run mine with an ECC82 for less gain, but these days I'm back on ECC83s for a bit more filth. They are interchangeable in this particular pedal. FWIW I've never had a problem losing the D and G strings with it engaged either - do you still have this problem without the VT1 turned on?
