bobpalt
Am I missing the point here? Why should ply be considered to be "cheaper" than solid wood? Does it devalue the bass in some way, when it is what it is, and maybe all basses made by this company were made of ply anyway? Karl couldnt have known without ripping the copper shielding out, and he is a thoroughly decent chap who wouldnt dream of twisting anybody. To pluck a figure of £50 compensation out of the air smacks of desperation to make something on the deal. Not fair and not decent.
tom1946
I'm totally with young Bob on this. I've met Karl twice when he very kindly drove to my house which is a long way from his to do deals. He is one of the nicest geezers I've ever met, totally honest and very reliable and I believe what Karl says. Just no call for this at all, period. Karl: don't leave this place mate, you have a lot of friends here! Including me.

gary mac
You were offered a full refund plus the £28 it was going to cost you to return it to me. This was done by PM. In the deal we did you mithered me for a case, a scratchplate and a strap, none of which were originally included. You got a very good deal despite my incorrect assumption. You then chose to maliciously go into open forum with a blackmail attempt at screwing another £50 out of me (ie give you £50 refund or you screw my feedback). Well you have done it. Whatever I do I will struggle to sell on here now, Thanks for that. You have maliciously ruined over 2 years of pretty good feedback in your attempt to screw another £50 out of me. You have made sure anybody thinking about my Duck Dunn will think again. You have made my position on Basschat untenable. I will be leaving Basschat after this is over as I really do not want to deal with people like you, I'm too old. I hope you are pleased with yourself.
Karl you wouldn't struggle to sell to me if I was buying and I certainly don't think that your position on here is untenable. Seems like you acted like a true gent. karlfer
Many thanks Gary. The gentleman in question has just tried similar tactics with a prominent member of the forum. That prominent member, being wiser than me, has cancelled the deal. I may be out of order, but judging from Mr. Piotrowski's wanted adverts, and the number of basses he is showing on gear porn, he may be a dealer of some description. The Kasuga he bought off me now appears to be sporting a white scratchplate and pick up surround as well as replacement pick up selector toggle. dmccombe7
I can't believe this. Karl is a genuine no-bullshit guy. Couldn't have been more helpful when i bought his Berg HT322. He told me if i wasn't happy once i tried it then we could cancel the deal. I couldn't have asked for a more genuine, pleasant transaction. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in buying from Karl again and to be perfectly honest i think he undersold the cab to me. It was an absolute bargain as far as i am concerned. I think this borders on slanderous behaviour against Karl who certainly doesn't deserve it. If the guy is now doing it with someone else should we not have him removed from the site. Constructive feedback on a deliberate misleading sale is different but that aint Karl. All the best and you have my full support mate. Stick with us - you are a good genuine guy and it would be an absolute shame if you took umbridge with Basschat over one guys unacceptable behaviour. bamboscha
Just bought the Duck Dunn bass from Karl. I must say I'm suprised it wasn't snapped up earlier. It really is a lovely instrument. Too slow, foooools! Karls description of the condition and set up was spot on. He left me alone with the bass, a good amp and a coffee. There was absolutely no pressure to buy, but after half an hours noodling I decided it was a go'er and I have to say Karl, I'm loving it. I would heartily recommend Karl to any prospective buyer on here. He is a top hombre. There is a downside to his hospitality and good nature though - I got done off her indoors for being late home. Also, the maltesers and haribos I took her weren't in a big enough bag to disguise the new axe coming through the door. I think it's time to start thinning the collection out. The Duck Dunn is definitely staying though. Alan.
Muzz
Just popped over to Karl's to look at a bass - thorough gent, nice basses, top brew and very special biscuits! Deal with confidence, he's one of the good guys.
heminder
Just purchased a cabinet from Karl, who drove all the way to drop it off. Good conversation and smiles all-around. Haven't had a play through the cab yet as I'm amp-less at the moment, but that's next on my list.
bamboscha
Also just purchased a cabinet from Karl. My second purchase from him and he is simply the greatest guy to deal with. There's nothing else to say. Heminder - it's alright getting him to drop stuff off for you, but you're missing out on the biscwits - they are from another planet. Massive, chocolated coated things! Has anybody else noticed that playing bass is slightly more comfortable with a bit of a gut? Alan.

dmccombe7
Jings crivvens Karl - you didn't keep the DD precision very long. You seemed very pleased with when i was visiting. GAS - its a dangerous antidote to stress - LOL PS i don't remember those weird biscuits but then again maybe that's the reason. Hope all sorted with the Rik copy mate. The Berg cab is fantastic. What a sound. Exactly what i was looking for. I now run my GB into my HT322 and my Warwick into the AE112 cabs. Fantastic full sound combining tubes and Solid State to full effect. dmccombe7
Loved the Duck, but overspent on the latest must have, cest la guerre . Really glad the Berg is working for you Dave, I'm just going back into wimpy 10 inch speakers mode (well, that's this morning, who knows by this afternoon . My Rick copy nemesis went strangely quiet after he tried it with Ash so I do feel a little vindicated. All the best you person with gear to drool over .
There's just no gettin away from GAS. Too much new gear on the go these days. Good luck with the new purchases whatever you finally decide on. All the best Dave
tazza1
Just received an Epiphone Explorer bass from Karl. He is an absolute pleasure to deal with. His description of the bass was extremely accurate & he made a point of messaging me to to make sure that I was aware of the ding on the edge that it has. If anything he overstressed the damage as it isn't that bad really but that just shows the kind of person he is - he'd rather not sell than have someone buy something they would not be happy with. The bass was extremely well packed both inside the box & inside the gig bag. Thanks Karl for helping me obtain a bass I've always wanted at a very good price. Lozz196
Karl just bought a cab from me. Came in with an offer that was more than acceptable, and did a 3&1/2 hour journey to mine to pick it up (so must have had at least the same on the way back)! Had a good chat about basses/amps etc. Deal with confidence.

Cosmo Valdemar
Sold my Cataldo JAEbird to Karl. Initially up as a trade but this evolved into a straight sale, no complications along the way at all. Karl is a trustworthy BC'er, I would happily do business with him in the future. CHeers Karl! SammyDamacy
Bought Karl's Fender Antigua P bass, arrived this morning and I couldn't be happier. Exactly as described (if anything it couldn't be in newer condition, did you have this for a day?) and was packaged beautifully. Really good guy to deal with, whole thing couldn't have gone any smoother. Polite, kind and a[s] hot piece of ass [/s] good bloke. Thanks again! fuzzylogic
Karl was kind enough to come out of his way and bring the schroeder 410 bmf to J20 of the M6. Karl is a great person to deal with and reserved the cab for me with no hesitation. A highly recommended bass chatter. Daz
xzodar
Karl bought my Bob Glaub. Very easy transaction and he drove more than half way to meet up which was very much appreciated. Nice chap, had a quick chat about basses in the services and then we parted ways. Would not hesitate in dealing again. Cheers Pete
