Ok nice, but why play it on a bass if you want the whole thing to be in the guitar range of pitch (you know what I mean)

Anyway - oh wise ones, what is the bass he is playing?
I suppose he liked the tune and wanted to play it on bass...? Does one need any other reason to play any tune on any particular instrument?

And I think the bass is a Zon - one of these:

you could even say it's fugly :)

I think it sounds really good with those strings though but he ruined the impact of the arrangement by flooding it with a ridiculously long decaying reverb (IMO), but that’s just a production issue. I think what he’s done with it is good though, I couldn’t do that.

impressive aka clever bastard :)

i really like that, very mellow & lovely tone,i actually like to reverby thing too.
sounds a bit harpsicordy,at least on my work pc's crappy speakers it does.

Aye agreed - but it does actually sound good - I'm not fan of tiny bodied basses - a.k.a. cricket bats - but I've seen/heard old Michael Manring use them on a couple of gigs and they do have a great tone (honest) - at the risk of more flaming and reverb-drenched-noodling - here's Mr M in action on his Zon:

Especially when they start tapping. A slap and a guitar, that's what he needs.
We might as well all play f*cking pianos then :)

It's soooo foooking beautiful.. Both compositions..

And I think, why you do give a f@ck, when you can not to give a f@ck? :)

Otherwise, give a slap yourself, Mr. Who'sNameIsTaken, and others

Kudos to the guy- he's got his own concept and it sounds integrated and complete - not a shredfest but a musicial voice. Not something I want to explore as a player but his work is very clean and professional and he should be applauded.

theres alot more to bass than root note you know, tapping like that sounds alot better on bass than it does on guitar.
