I guess the actor Harry Shearer should get a mention for being Derek Smalls from the legendary Spinal Tap. Is there any program he hasn't been in? http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0790434/

On the same note (no pun intended) - Rik Mayall played bass for spoof band Bad News, and so he probably knows a thing or two about the old low end!

Gosh! Either that's a piccolo bass or he's almost as tall as Dood ...

Richard Hammond, of Top Gear, plays bass.

WARNING: The following clip includes Justin Hawkins and is therefore not suitable for all sorts of people (But Hammond acquits himself quite well IMHO)

Randy Jackson - the American Idol judge

Martin Kemp - that bloke off Eastenders (and now sofa advertisement fame!) who used to be in Spandau Ballet

Sarah-Jayne from young kids TV show Tikkabilla! she had it on there once...a Yamaha RBX or something similar!

and don't forget the mighty Alan Partridge can slap a mean 'air bass' when listening to Gary Numan in the static home!

I'm surprised no-one's mentioned John Kerry yet: the Democratic Presidential Candidate was bassist in a school band that recorded an album. (BBC News report.) First bassist in the White House? :)

Funny that, I'd rather tame tigers for a hobby anyday than perform a Mark King solo, Live!

The only one I can think of is Alan Partridge playing the airbass does that count :)
