cd_david Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 (edited) Vox Standard Bass made in the 80s, alder body I believe along with a dimarzio precision pickup. Good working order with no issues. Plays very well with a low action and no fret buzz. Everything works as it should. Controls- Volume, Tone, Phase Switch. Maple neck, Two octave (24 frets) fingerboard. Classic Vox Teardrop headstock. The bass does show signs of being well gigged with dings here and there, plectrum use and a large chip to the top bout and a crack to the rear of the headstock on the e string. It's never moved in the years I've owned it though. Great first bass, back up or main gigging bass that you wouldn't need to be precious about. looking for £150 plus postage or interesting trades but NO Squiers Thanks Edited October 22, 2016 by cd_david
JensWest Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 I also have one (my very first bass), with a crack in the head at the exact same spot. These are well built basses.
cd_david Posted July 10, 2016 Author Posted July 10, 2016 Yeah, the build quality on these is easily as good as Mex Fenders if not better. Great solid components and electrics and classic looks.
alembic1989 Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Fabulous basses...my first ' proper bass".. Still have it too.
inmate1571 Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 (edited) I've heard these unfairly dismissed as 'japcrap' over the years..a solid, great sounding (albeit weighty) bass with a great neck. I still have mine thirty years later. Someone's getting a bargain. GLWTS 👍😊 Edited July 10, 2016 by inmate1571
alyctes Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Mine is not at all the sort of bass I like... neck is a treetrunk. But I love it and can't see myself ever getting rid of it.
Ghost Rider Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 I played this last night & its a cracker. The neck is wonderful & Its a bargain at £150!!!
cd_david Posted September 13, 2016 Author Posted September 13, 2016 £125? Less than the cost of a squier for a solid bodied bass with Dimarzio pup and vintage brand.
Burns-bass Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Lovely basses. I don't need one, but that hasn't always stopped me.
