gjones Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Fed up being the one in the band, whose name everyone forgets? Now it's your turn to shine! Guaranteed to get you laid, or your money back! Quote
HazBeen Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 This is the most ridiculous thing I have seen in ages........ Quote
KevB Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 I'm guessing possible neck dive issues but maybe it's made of ultra light materials. Utterly mental but fun to watch. Quote
4stringslow Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Half of me thinks 'ridiculous', the other half thinks 'brilliant'. The other half (. . . er . . . ) thinks that all the time and energy he put into designing and building that gizmo would have been more than enough to learn five simple chords and left the door open to learning further chords rather than giving him a 'hard' limit of just five. But hey, it looks like a fun little project, so why not? As he said, it's not for musicians. Quote
Luulox Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Bugger, this thread title has me intrigued but my mobile browser (opera) won't load the plug in. I may never know what this brilliant invention is! I will not rest until this injustice is put right! Or someone kindly supplies a link, pretty please. Cheers Pete Quote

discreet Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Middle-class, middle-aged bloke has too much time on his hands. Not like me. Oh, no. Quote

It looks a bit bulky but I could see it having a market with a few modifications. Quote

bobbass4k Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 May I suggest that the commas in the title be rearranged? Or at least the content of the thread revised to avoid disappointment. Quote

Beer of the Bass Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 There have been similar devices for ukulele going back as far as the 20s, but I'm not sure if there was ever a guitar version of those. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chord_Master Still, the chap has such enthusiasm about his invention that it would feel mean-spirited to take the pee. Although part of me does wonder whether the autoharp solved this issue a century ago... Quote
PaulWarning Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 no more having to convert a 7 string guitar to 6 string for fat fingered players, put our favourite luthier (not sure if we can say his name anymore) out of business Quote
Barking Spiders Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 what about F# Bflat 9 at the 8th fret? Quote
Painy Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 (edited)
what about F# Bflat 9 at the 8th fret? Woodinblack Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 If only there was a way of doing like that machine does, but only using your fingers! Quote
KingBollock Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Even I can do those chords! Now, if it did Bs... Quote
PaulWarning Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 (edited) all he needs to do is build in a capo and the world is his oyster (almost) yeah those B's and Bb's are a bugger Edited July 13, 2016 by PaulWarning Quote

Sammers Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 (edited) My brother's disabled but likes strum on a guitar, not making any kind of music or anything just "playing".. it puts a smile in on his face. This device could probably help him play something a little more in tune as he doesn't really have the dexterity in his hands. So ridiculous to some maybe but it could be useful to others I reckon! Huge Hands Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016
Now even sausage, fingered, bass players can play guitar! I thought the video was a good laugh to watch though! Quote
KevB Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 I sympathise with the guy, after toiling with a cheap acoustic about 15 years ago I soon decided that 6 strings were not for me and I've had no desire to pick up a guitar since. Quote
