wateroftyne Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 It's been a while since we talked about this one. It's come up for air again... https://www.instagram.com/p/BHTWEaUDfi6/ Quote
Musicman20 Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 I've never seen that. Is that the actual prototype or is it a master build custom shop? I presume its a prototype? Looks VERY clean. Quote
wateroftyne Posted July 15, 2016 Author Posted July 15, 2016 Fab, isn't it? It's generally regarded to be the real deal... Quote
Sibob Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 If Jason spent the day with it with the owner, guessing that means one of two things: 1) A CS limited run of '59 Protos 2) The owner wants a replica to gig. Very cool though! Si Quote
Musicman20 Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 It is lovely. I wonder what it sounds like! They should definitely consider a re-issue special edition of something like that. Quote

A master built is probably 4-5k?, I imagine he might get a slight concession simply because they get to work on such a piece of history, gets their customers excited etc. Basically just Fodera money + the history involved. But who knows Si Quote
Sammers Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 It probably stayed as a prototype for a reason. Someone who owns a bass like this and probably doesn't play it much (looking at the condition) probably wants it to have a full Fender "service history". That's my guess anyway Wonder what it sounds like though, those fat pups look interesting! Quote
DarkHeart Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Looks like our friend at Phillips Cleartone Conversions has had his hands on the knobs as none match Quote
AndyTravis Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Interesting that the roscoe beck model and the modern player jazz had similar pickups. The second generation modern player jazz with the 4 way selector was/is a fantastic bass. Quote
synthaside Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Im gonna leave this here , looks possibly the same bass but no red pot . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZB5IHynNVfo Quote
