Bass cab impulse responses

I've just found out about impulse responses and what a difference they can make to your recordings. I've found loads of guitar cabs but I've found nothing for bass. Anybody know of any sites worth a visit? Obviously, free would be awesome 😀

A collection for Bass (some Gtr as well).

And here for some classic reverbs, cabs and spaces.
the Bricasti M7 pack is well worth downloading.
Scroll down, then under 'Reverbs'.

Another list of various free packs. Also a tutorial on using IR's.

And some of the best IR's out there at Samplicity (free).

If you want a great plug in to load your IR's in to then I'd definitely recommend BIAS by Positive Grid. You can even 'profile' your amplifier set up in the app too so you always have 'your tone' on your machine ready to record!

^ Good post by Lowdown above, cheers mate! :drinks:

I don't (yet) use impulse responses for guitar and/or bass... but I am a big fan of convolution reverbs, which work on exactly the same principle. Makes a huge difference if you're wanting to simulate a more 'natural' environment, in my opinion.

My favourite 'verb of this type is Softube's TSAR-1. It's quite expensive, but if you're patient you can pick it up during Black Friday sales and other promotions for a more reasonable sum (I got lucky and grabbed it with a 75% discount one year). Worth every penny - it sounds superb.

...but that's slightly off topic! Very interested to hear the results of anyone meddling with impulse responses. It's something I'm keen to mess around with myself.

RedWire has awesome impulse responses. Have a look here https://www.redwirez.com/bigbox.jsp and search for "Bass cabinets". They are close to the bottom of the page. Ampeg SVT 810, Hartke 4.5XL, Aquilar DB115, Ampeg B15. They captured them using various microphones. I use Earthworks TC30, which does not add any additional colour. I practise the bass going into Reaper with a compressor and these cabs.

Thanks for the advice and the links. I've downloaded a bunch of these and so far my favourite has been an Ampeg which works well. It just adds a nice depth to the sound without too much colouring of it. Some tbh have been dreadful but the search continues for the grail 😎

I don’t know if this IRs are 44.1

😞

Confirm they are indeed 44.1 so they're exactly what i needed. I did have to crop them as they're 1 second long, and my Sonic IR loader didn't have the memory space. I cropped to 250ms and its all good..

Gunna bump this thread rather than start a new one.

I’m looking for bass cab IRs, preferably 24bit 44.1.
Any recommendations?

 Cheers

Try this IR pack. It has a wide variety of really good options. I personally love the Ampeg Heritage B15 cab and have been playing it for months now. I own a Darkglass Element and while that has nice cabs in the suite, there is just something about the sound of this particular IR that does it for me. I very highly recommend you give this pack a try. Also, not sure if this is a make or break for you, but this is in 24bit 48kHZ.
