What is this indefinite quality, known as "stank"? I've heard that some octavers possess it.

What does "stank" mean?

Is it one of those words that doesn't translate (you just instinctively know what it means)? If so, I might be onto something, but just asking to make sure.

I know it's going to be tempting to tell me that it's the past-tense of stink. Don't, it's too obvious.

I think it means gross, disgusting or creepy.

However, young master discreet (14) often greets me with 'what up, stank' first thing in the morning, when I'm not quite ready for it.

Whenever I've heard the word "Stank" (always relating to octave pedals) it's used in a positive sense. "That octaver has stank" ... like stank is a good thing :/

Until this morning I had lived in blissful ignorance that such a silly, pointless word even existed.

Think of it as being enriched :)

Envelope filters stank. The Fwonkbeta certainly does, it says so in the manual: http://www.mrblack.j...beta-manual.pdf

Basically it's when a sound makes you pull a face like something stinks!

Yes it was, I'm having a very straightforward and logical day today. Don't worry, it'll pass.

I knew it existed, but as the past tense of the verb "stink", not as a noun.
