Fionn Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 I've got an older Warwick with the 1-piece 3D bridge so I don't know the answer to this ... On the standard 2-piece Warwick bridge (4 string), the string spacing is adjustable, right? I understand that the spacing is 19mm when the saddles are all set in the middle, but how close is it possible to get them. You can bring it as close as 16mm on the old Schaller 3D bridge. I'm wondering about the newer type. Quote
Kev Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 I guess technically they will allow spacing as close as the saddles touch each other, which at a guess would be around 16.5mm. I'd check for you but I am Warwickless again, but this time with no plans to return Quote

darkandrew Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 (edited) I've got mine set at 18mm and could possibly go another 1mm to 17mm. Any narrower than that and the side-to-side adjustable part of the 1st and 4th string saddle would be outside of the main saddle. Edited July 20, 2016 by darkandrew Quote

So, you reckon 17mm minimum spacing, before the screws get too close to the edge of the saddle mount, then? Quote

[/quote] Yes - don't forget that moving the strings 1mm closer means that you are actually moving the 1st and 4th string saddles by double that (ie. 2mm), similarly a 2mm shift at 2nd and 3rd strings means 4mm shift for the 1st and 4th. goingdownslow Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 I've set mine so the strings have the same spacing (17mm) between them, the centres are all different. Quote

Fionn Posted July 21, 2016 Author Posted July 21, 2016 Can somebody confirm exactly how narrow the spacing gets for me please? I'm away on my holidays Saturday morning, and I need this info to be able to decide on the purchase of a bass before then. I'd be most grateful for any help. Quote
darkandrew Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 I still think somewhere between 17mm and 18mm is about as narrow you're going to get. Quote
