NOW £2,295

2013 Dingwall Super P/J four string.

A high spec four stringer, which Sheldon Dingwall informed me was built especially for one of the Namm shows.

BGM reviewed this very bass a while back and were very enthusiastic and complimentary about just about every aspect of it. Their one slight criticism was the Star Trek style logo string tree and the black control knobs, both features that I think look and feel great.

Anyway, everything about this bass is top quality, the workmanship is excellent and the fittings/hardware top class.

A couple of years back, I really needed a lightweight gigging bass and I fancied something modern, Dingwall just fitted the bill and this came up at the right time. It's a lovely instrument, great to gig with and is very versatile and comfortable to play. It has been a pleasure to own but a couple of years down the line, I realise that it's a bit wasted on me and I'm just happier with my vintage Fender, Wal and G&L basses.

The specification:

Weight 7lb 4oz.

Special lightweight, Swamp Ash Body. (£100 option when new)
See through blonde finish.

Birds eye maple fret board. (£320 option when new)

PP neck pick up.

FD3 jazz bridge pick up.

Hipshot HB6 tuners. Plus D Tuner.
Sansome Hand wound strings.

Controls are: Volume, four way Pick up selector, Tone.
Pick up selector is: Neck only. Bridge/Neck in series. Bridge/Neck in parallel. Bridge only.
Dingwall badged gig bag and tools included.

The tone control is an aftermarket Stellartone Tone Styler (£79 from Bass Direct), which offers ten different and very useable tonal options, everything from deep and dubby, to bright, clanky and modern.
http://www.stellartone.com/index.asp
A bit of Bass Chat about it here: http://basschat.co.u...tyler-for-bass/

I still have the original tone pot and will include it in the sale.

The condition of the bass is exceptionally good, with just a couple of tiny dinks to the body, not through to the wood though and not easy to see.

Dingwall prices have risen fairly sharply over the last couple of years as has the waiting list. This looks almost new, is substantially cheaper and is available immediately.

Price is £[s]2,395[/s]

Now £ 2,295

Collected from my place in Herts.

If you require this to be posted, we can discuss the options. Please keep in mind though, that it is not in a hard case and although I can pack it very well, it will not be covered by insurance and the risk will be with the buyer.
Alternatively, I could purchase a basic hard case in order to be able arrange insured postage. Please advice if this is required and I will work out the costs.

I have played this very bass and it's superb. It's also so light it practically floats away.
When I first picked it up it nearly shot it through the ceiling plaster. I was expecting it to be a little heavier.

Don't be put off by the fanned frets - it took me exactly one minute to get used to them. They are actually easier to play than non-fanned. Which is the whole point of them, I'm guessing. Lovely even balance across the strings too.

A proper hand-made bass for silly money. Great, now I've talked myself into Dingwall GAS.

Maybe not the best demo ever done but could give an idea.

You do get a slight inkling of the possibilities from that, but why don't they find people who can actually play for these videos? :D I found this bass extremely versatile, there are an incredible number of tone variations possible. You can make it sound exactly how you want it and you can't really ask for much more than that. The neck is superb on this too and the bird's-eye board is just magnificent. :gas:

Plus it's essentially blonde, black and maple - classic colour combo!
Needless to say if I had the folding, I'd already be in the car heading north...

Thanks Mark, I forgot to mention in my ad, about how easy it is to play with the fanned fret system. :)

Ding's are certainly easier to play than the ham-fisted attempt made in that demo! Phew!! Here's a guy playing a P/J (5'er).

This is one hell of a bass. I've heard this one in action in a gig. Nice one Gary. Can't believe you're selling and can't believe it's not gone. It has to be the market being seriously slow.
Cheers Rich. It is lovely in every way and I'll probably miss it, mind you got to sell it first

Just read the BGM review of this bass today.... great stuff. I'm sure plenty of people would be up for this if they could get the cash together.
It was a great review, he liked almost everything about it. :)
