I've been trying to get that loose elastic tone but I'm still at a loss. Any ideas? I bought my first bass in 1983 (the obligatory Westone Thunder 1-A) and learnt to play all Dave Allen's stuff from Shriekback and the Gang of Four. I saw them live a few times too.
