stufunkybass
Hi all, I am currently running two bergs under my TC Electronic Classic 450. I have had the odd comment that the sound is a bit "woofy" and not that clear. I am looking to up grade the head an indeed have my eye on a couple of heads plus a Tecamp 2x12 combo. Anyone have any ideas/ran a couple of AE12's Cheers Stu
LukeFRC
Berg b-Amp is literally tailored to fit isn't it?
chris_b
I'd keep the AE112's. Those are some of the best sounding cabs I've used. I used a Thunderfunk 550 and 750 with mine and another favourite was the now discontinued Markbass LM2. IMO an Aguilar TH500 works very well with Berg cabs. I've also heard that the Genzler Megallen 800 sounds pretty good as well.
stufunkybass
Thanks guys a mate of mine has a Littlt Mark 2 he doesn't use since he got his TC endorsement. I may see if I can borrow it.
stufunkybass
Markbass do still make the Little Mark and also the Big Bang with aux in and split channel for filters and eq.... .... The plot thickens.

M@23
If 'wooly' is what you're trying to get away from, Tecamp (and therefore, probably Eich) are worth trying.
HazBeen
AEs are not known for their wooliness or woofy character so it probale is an eq related matter. Perhaps that is all you need to change, the EQ?
Muzz
Yep, if it's wooly, it's not the cabs. I'm running three (or two, or one, depending on the gig) AE112s, and they sound really good with my Magellan. They also sound good with my Walkabout. bassbora
I know its not the same cab but I have using a AE212 and I use Genz Streamliner 600 and a Mesa Subway 800 depending on the mood I am in and both sound great. So I can imagine that either amp would be good with AE112
Muzz
Rereading the original post, are the 'woofy' comments coming from a gig? The AE112s are rear ported, so there might be an issue if they're hard up against anything behind them, etc. Just a thought...
mrtcat
I used to have two AE112's with a TC Classic head. Although I was pretty underwhelmed with the TC head it certainly wasn't wooly. I'd be inclined to say that any of the above suggestions would yield good results and that in particular the tecamp suggestion would be great. The thunderfunks are sublime if you're not looking for a micro head.
