Hi
This is the latest layout in my pedalboard:

There's a classic sort of elegance about this, which the Art School bore in me is really digging. Lovely.

You're not alone ... it's very nice.

The Blueberry looks tiny next to the Polytune. Is the blueberry box the same size as an MXR BOD (or Fuzz Deluxe or Bass Envelope filter) or is it even smaller ?

Hi! :hi:

So.. it's Friday night and I've been for a noodle with my new board set up for 2013.. powered by the Carl Martin pro power.. It's been loadsa fun putting this board together (Pedaltrain 2) over the last 6-months, and almost everything, except the H.O.F, is used/second-hand mainly from on-line auctions.. or given away free *TC Corona Chorus* as part of the promotion for the BH250. There are no passengers and everything is used - but not all at the same time.

The chain is; GP12XV preamp > Polytune > EQ-20 > OC-2 > Octave deluxe > MXR Auto Q > Corona > Vortex > H.O.F > Nova Dynamics > BBE Sonic Stomp

.. still have GAS for Source Audio SA170 programmable EQ, TC flashback delay, BOSS LS-2 and the MXR M87 compressor.. the Nova Dynamics and EQ-20 eat some serious Ma (600+ between them) and leave a large footprint.. so we'll see what 2013 turns up! B)
Get yourself a Gigrig Generator, 5amps of power, never worry about ma ratings again lol

Si

Doing a last minute recording session today at Derby University, laying down one of our funky breakbeat tracks. It's one of simplest tunes we play and this is the stuff I need to play it... (Messy I know...)

Oh...

Good to see you've gotten rid of the OCD & left some spaghetti. Now I don't feel so bad! :yarr:

How do you find the BBE Sonic Stomp?

Not seen one before and looked it up on the web and have to say that I am a little sceptical about their claims!
Hi! Here's a quote from an faq on BBE's own website.. http://www.bbesound....e/faq/index.asp

"BBE is totally different than exciter and enhancer effects units. BBE High Definition Sound technology is not an effect, but restructures the signal in such a way which allows speakers to more correctly and faithfully reproduce the signal. The best analogy for BBE technology is like eyeglasses for your audio system".

Well, what can you say? It looks like cleverly crafted product marketing.. BUT the Sonic Stomp IS different to an 'exciter' / 'enhancer'.. I've used both and neither add much, except for a bit of 'hiss' and more 'treble'.. In my experience, the BBE does NOT work well between an instrument and a pre-amp; you just end up reducing the input level. However, It really work best in my pre-amps 'effects loop', as the last *processor* in the chain, BEFORE the amplifier stage.. where I've found it adds 'energy', and a better 'rounded', 'cleaner' sound. It's a "set and forget" signal processor, but when you take it out, you do notice it's not there.

I've read the same mixed reviews too.. but I just felt for 40-odd quid (on-line auction) it was worth taking a punt. I did notice that a couple of other guys (above) also have one on their boards too.. be quite interesting to hear what their experience is.. and if they would recommend.. I certainly do. Cheers!

what's happened to the custom xerograph ?

me no see yet ..
There is no low pass on that pic... That's just a set up for one specific song that we were tracking. That said, the Xero is on Taylor's bench having some tweaks made to the CV scale. It'll be back soon. :)

ah. curious to hear the results. i love my standard xero.

i use a moog ep2 with mine, but seem to suffer problems with it occasionally. any ideas on what alternatives i should look at ?

i'm starting to use an expression pedal more and more now in my 'other' band, and want something really durable and compatible with the xero.

Well I think it's about time I posted my set-up:

Bass > El Grande > Dunlop Bass Wah > Boss ODB3 > MXR Envelope Filter > 3Leaf GR2 with the MXR BOD in the effects loop. I'm planning to replace the El Grande with a Red Ripper and add an Iron Ether Oxide to the GR2's effect loop along with the BOD.

Some recabling still to do and my custom Xerograph needs to sit in place of the Moog LPF when it's back, but aside from that this is what I'll be rocking for the months ahead...
