neepheid Posted Friday at 16:40 Posted Friday at 16:40 Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes. Decided to up my pitch shifting game (as well as eliminate a single point of failure - I've become utterly dependent upon the pitch shifter for the "can you raise/lower this song by x semitones?" requests), so I got a TC Electronic Brainwaves. I nearly didn't get one, because on the face of it it didn't do a single semitone shift. But with Toneprint trickery, you can assign a single custom interval to each voice. It's a little odd in that the one is right at the sweep of the knob instead of its rightful place between unison and 2, but I can live with it. Hotone Harmony has been relegated to detune ("chorus") duties, but if anything went on the wonk with the Brainwaves then it could be pressed back into service as pitch shifter. So, yet another reorganisation required... I'd like to say "that's it", never say never but but to go much further, I think I'd need a bigger pedalboard. 3 Quote

I know, but if I move them up, the jacks don't fit through the gaps in the pedalboard. I'm not going to lie, I'm already considering moving up to the 3.0 and getting some more pedals in the mix while I'm experimenting. This RB 2.1 is just a touch too small. The perfect compact gig board would be a 2.2, with a hole cut out to mount one of the RB Mod patch bays. That'd leave enough room for this, plus a fun pedal like the OC5 or maybe an HX One. 3 Quote

Still not got velcro on etc. Really liked the power amp simulation available on Two Notes Genome so decided to bite the bullet and grab the Opus. This will be perfect for a couple of musical project potential on the horizon, the QC is great but it makes for a big board once Ive added some extra pedals. I swapped out my Element for a 2Notws CabM+ I got for a steal and it’s class. I really like the Mesa cabs. I usually play a Tecamp 212m cab and the Mesa 212 IR sounds great to my ears. Quote

Not digging the bundled DynIR but everything else is great. Quote

It’s not that the Element is bad and I really dig it’s simplicity but having loaded up some of my existing IRs and then using the Mesa ones I’m super happy. 1 Quote

The Simone is lovely sounding. The eq is boost/cut so you do get additional volume as you dial it up but that is no bad thing as it’s very easy to sound good with boosted settings or most settings for that matter. I had a Monique M700 for a number of years when I was doing bigger gigs and the Sensitivity control is a real key to ‘voicing’ of the amp and Simone shares this function. It just makes the unit more touch responsive and feel ‘hotter’ - I believe it’s like an impedance control so it opens up the signal coming through or some wizardry. Basically it sounds good! The Hondo Felder demo is very accurate. I often A/B Simone with other preamps etc and it always just sounds ‘better’. I have it set up so that it’s nice and straight in my board and not all wonky. Seriously tho On my board I take the DI out into the HL comp and then into the Cab M+ and the DI sound is class. The 1/4” out just runs across the signal chain to the amp and again sounds class. I use a Fender Rumble 500 210 combo and prefer the Simone into the regular input rather than the fx loop - I’ve done all that type of experimenting at home with most gear 😀 1 Quote
MrDinsdale Posted Saturday at 08:02 Posted Saturday at 08:02 New day, new board! 👌 I love all these pedals so much it's too hard to pick a few for a compact board. 4 Quote
