neat., but don't you find better results with the octave pedal nearer to the beginning of the chain ?
I wish I could afford one. Just want the LPF as I'm not entirely getting on with my FM4.
Different beast though. Depends what you use the FM4 for. The Moog LPF can do envelope filter/wah... But IMO not as well as my 3Leaf Groove Regulator. The LPF however, is the swell master... Its key for Super dub and synth tones.

This is my DIY (guitar :)) pedal board which I made a few months ago. It's mdf, covered with black acrylic, alloy trim and a pair of Ikea's finest cupboard handles :) There's a Diago power supply hidden in the tier, with a couple of Scythe Mini Kaze LED fans to keep it cool. I've also fitted a brush cable tidy (made from a letterbox draught excluder) in the front face on the tier, which allows the patch/power cables to be neatly routed from pedal to pedal.

Pedal wise it's pretty simple... Polytune, MXR Octave (which sounds great with guitar), MXR Zakk Wylde Overdrive (soon to be replaced with an MXR Delay due to lack of use), noise gate, Ernie Ball wah and the footswitch for my Blackstar S100 head.

Wow that certainly looks the business - very smart indeed.

What are the jack connectors that you are using between the 3 MXR pedals?

Thanks, the connectors are made by Planet Waves.

How do you find the MXR Noise Gate. I really need to try a noise gate out soon for my monster board...
I'll have to wait to give my final verdict on the Smart Gate, as I've not used it at a rehearsal or gig as yet, but at low(ish) volumes it works a treat. I'm in the process of setting up a new band, so hopefully I'll be able to give it a proper test drive soon.

I always like the boss one purely beacause of it's loop. Basically gives you perfect gating.

Have you seen the video of the guitarists in Periphery showing off their rigs? Their use of two noise gates (3 in that video, seeing as the Engl heads have a noise gate built in) is awesome. I wonder if it would work quite as well on bass though. Also only really works for one style of music - it's a very "on or off" sound. I can vouch for the ISP Decimator doing a pretty good job though.

Evening. This is the beginning of a pedal board odyssey for me. Basically taken a few pedals I've had, bought a couple off here and constructing something that I plan to play about with and evolve for a new project. Got the biggest board I could find cheap and off I went.

Initial set up:

Bass>polytune>micro-thumpinator>modded Bassballs>DHA VT1 comp>WOBO double looper (1)> [fuzz/OD] DHA VT2 Twin; (2)> [modulation etc] MXR bass octave deluxe> Fromel modded Boss CE2B>Fromel modded BF2B;WOBO>Amp

So I am going for a double loop set up - one loop fuzz/distortion/OD and the other octave and modulation effects. The VT2 (along with the VT1) was basically my only pedal in use in last band; now I need a more 80s, new wave vibe so added in my old chorus etc. Not sure the VT2 works in this set up - I may want to explore other fuzz etc options. i really like the WOBO esp with the INV function allowing me to reverse whatever state it's in. Anyway, lots of swapping round to try out. More space available and so looking at new options and appreciating all the insight I get on here to help me.

Quick vid from rehearsal on Xmas Eve. Just after set up before we made any real noise. Shows the pedalboard against the rest of the room/rig/drums etc to give you a full idea of the size!

Not sure if you'll get any sound as I've just moved house and don't have broadband set up yet so this has been compressed and uploaded to Photobucket via iPhone.

My latest set up.

Managed to get an SBK pedalboard off the bay nice and cheap, and have started filling it with pedals.

The little box behind the whammy is my DIY loop switcher, which brings in the Rat/Whammy/Delay, so I can roll my foot off the whammy treadle to come out of that loop straight into my "clean" tone, which is perfect when I play Schism.

Still not 100% finished, I want some nice Neutrik connectors and some decent patch cables that I can make up in the correct lengths, and I also want to Change the Guyatone delay for a Boss unit, and add a Boss TU-3 Tuner, At the moment I am using a Behringer rack mount one, but I want to streamline my gear even further.

Used it all last night recording some tracks, and I am happy, although when I Added that lot up I was shocked that there is nearly £600 pounds worth of "shiney" sitting there!

Chilling out on New Year's Eve. Hope you're having a good one, folks.

After 4 months (since I posted my first board), many gigs, and even more pedal changes here is my gigable board. It works! It's alive!!

I've also changed boards. I just didn't need the space provided by the Gator Pro so I changed it for a smaller T-Rex board.

Last addition was the MXR Blowtorch which I'm really happy with. This after a Rat, a black Big Muff, an ODB-3, a Danelectro Fab Tone which, should I record, I'll use but live I just cannot seem to work for me - even blended with a Boss LS-2. The Fab Tone does sound amazing though. I play a Warwick Stage I...., or a 1973 Fender Jazz bass (with EMGs) with a new tweaks on the Sansamp.

Ooh, and the Line 6 expression pedal for the MM4. Its really opened it up, if you know what I mean.

It'd be great to have your opinions on this, my Mark II board.

Cheers,

Mike
