Put together a bit of a fun board to use some of the older pedals that haven’t been out for a while…

The venn diagram of “awesome desirable pedals people love” and “ @iamtheelvy’s old stuff in the cupboard” has a fairly big overlap!

I was torn with the OC-2 between using the “Octave” or “Octaver” model. May be some swapping back and forth with that one…

Also, the Aguilar Grape may swap out for a Chorusaurus at some point, but need to track down one of the older models to match.

Haha... just rub it in. I would have gone with both OC2s, each with a different settings. Trying to hide my jealousy.

A lot of the wazacraft stuff have an option mode - what do you think it would be on an OC2 reissue?

honestly the OC5 sounds so close........you really wont notice in a mix, but i know feel wise there probs will be a difference, so im not sure what they could do to the Oc2 with out changing it to be more to a OC5

I’m sure there’d be divided opinion on that. I’d like a Standard mode exactly as the original (Octaver branding on the case), then the Waza option with additional volume to the octave down and, maybe, an external footswitch input to allow switching between the mixed signal and isolated octave down.

@iamtheelvy have you shared a photo of your board that isn’t “stuff I had laying around” yet?!

Ooof, that’s kind of a big question… OK, so as follows:

super clean board:

Wee tiny board (also used occasionally to simulate bass on an acoustic, using both outputs):

Usual gigging board (key essentials):

Looper board (for when the motivation hits…):

And, just for completeness, board for when I pretend to be a guitarist…

Guess, while we’re at it, the “currently unused section”:

And the everyday home practice board (as constructed many years ago by Dadtheelvy) - empty space for trying our different pedals in situ:

Does the colour of the tape match the colour of the pedal?

No, not yet. That’s colour coding from a previous incarnation. So used to the order that I haven’t bothered to change it yet!

Inspired by @ordep, I decided to build a battery-powered board.

Looking forward to testing this tonight at a local community jam session. No idea what genres are likely to be played so I'm hoping this will cover most bases.

Cable management to be improved, and I'm hoping to fit some small feet so I can sling the powerbank underneath the scrap plywood board.

decided to tweak the drive section a bit! Swollen pickle and dba germanium filter out and boss Hm2w and Seamoon grind machine in

also simplified the amps I’m using in the kemper using mainly a Hiwatt now with some GK sprinkled in for the cleans

oh also added in a boss ps-2 for so weird pitch delay stuff I want to start doing between songs to fill space

Hey Westwood, Stone here from SEAMOON. Just wanted to say "Great looking board" We hope you are enjoying the Grind Machine !!!

First pass at redoing my second board onto a PT Nano rather than a Nano+, tighter spacing, but I wanted the smaller footprint. The trickier 3 switches in the middle of the board (Tuner/Drive/Chorus) should be much more accessible with he addition of some Barefoot Button ‘Tallboy’ switch toppers (yet to arrive, the standard Mooer ones pictured).

Corona Chorus and the 66 are getting swapped out in the next month or so, watch this space.

All powered with a Cioks Sol smartly fixed in place with their clamp, very neat setup that!

Yet another 'tweak' to the board. Meris back on, h9 off, but plans to use the h9 on a second smaller board that I'm hoping to build over the next 4 weeks or so....

I love the Meris. It's beautiful.

I was digging into the H9 the other day - lots of fun things. Do you use expression pedal with it?

I've been using a Zoom B6 for the last year or so with the Hulla band and I think it's great. Its perfect what what I need, which is access to a range of effects during rehearsals that will coalesce into (hopefully) four patches with a couple of options such as chorus and/or phase once the final set list has been decided.

But I also play occasionally, either in scratch bands - one-offs and fun gigs - or as a dep in a couple of bands. For the dep duties, it's almost always a straight forward rock set for which I only need a couple of pedals and so I don't use the B6. Recently I've become involved in a scratch band trio made up of mates I've played with before and which is due to play at the end of October. It may evolve into, at the very least, a band that jams regularly although there's a chance that something more may come of it. So being the type of person that likes creating pedal boards and also the type of person that has a selection of pedals to play with, I thought I'd put a board together that would emulate the B6 but with less choice; that choice being focused on the rock and blues end of the spectrum.

One key element was to include the Keith McMillen 12 Step keyboard controller, which dictated the width of the board. It really needs a hard surface to sit on to respond properly as it's quite flexible so mounting it on the board seemed like a good idea and would offer some protection as well. I'll be added a few simple keyboard parts to fill out the trio sound.

This is the final choice of pedals. Included here is an acoustic guitar pre-amp (top centre) as I may be playing acoustic guitar on one or two numbers and a mini mixer for the . Also in the picture (bottom left) is a Behringer P1 wired monitor so I can wire an in-ears monitor ste up if required, and also so that the board becomes a self contained practice rig. The power block is a Harley Benton unit.

This is the under side of the board, which was built from off cuts of plastic interior windowsill strips covered with black gaffa tape. There are various strips of velcro or similar that will hold the cables in place. Looks a bit messy, because it is a bit messy. 😀

I finished off the board this morning. The core sound is provided by the Ampeg pre-amp and the H24 HPF, along with the Hot Wax providing a bit of overdrive where necessary. I couldn't fit the acoustic guitar pre-amp on the board which annoys me a bit, as does the gap beneath the Plethora X3. The latter space is necessary for the USB cables that connect to the 12 Step. I'm already trying to decide what could go in there. Top left is a DI box, top right is the P1 monitor. The X3 is currently proving compressor and phase and may well be swapped out for individual pedals to do the same , which may free up space for the acoustic pre-amp. Hmmm. These 'final version' builds are never final. 😀

I've made very few alterations to my board since getting the Quad Cortex. I made a few alterations last night and pretty happy.

I'm really enjoying this layout, though. Got my Model feT and Cali76 as pretty much always on and a couple of dirt flavours the QC doesn't really cover.

I'm really happy with the bass and guitar tones I'm getting out of this.

Not ATM

.... I want to find some time to dive deeper tbh, but just never create it. Have you tried the expression?

Not yet, the expression pedal I’ve got doesn’t work in the h9 - I was keeping the app open and simulating using it- I like the idea of a harmony thing in the pitch factor and pedal change from major to minor scale or something

missing my Bassrig SV. Thinking of buying it back or try the Finally. Or maybe the Neptunium for something clean. Awesome board!
