LegateNaarifin
Hi all I've got a Laney RB8 combo amp, (I'm really happy with how it sounds, reacts well with my BBM and preamp pedal), and I'm looking to get an extension cabinet to really open it up for larger gigs. For those who don't know, the RB8 is a solid state 1x15 combo, running 300 watts. The extension cab needs an impedance of 8 ohms minimum. Anyone got any ideas for an affordable (still in school ) cabinet that would sound good? Still undecided on 112 vs 210 vs 212, any input would be great. Lozz196
Depends on budget of course but if possible I`d be looking at the matching RB115 cab. Always better to double up on the same size drivers if possible, that way for one you`re getting double the sound you already like, and secondly you then don`t have to re-eq when adding/taking the ext cab away, whereas with a different type cab this is very likely. If the Laney is too costly then Thomann do a Harley Benton 115 cab which is very reasonably priced, but due to being a different maufacturer it is possible the two may not work well together due to a lot of techy stuff I`ve read about but don`t really understand. In/out phasing I think. Edited July 27, 2016 by Lozz196
LegateNaarifin
Just had a quick Google, I can get the RB115 for under £200, which is marvellous. I've not really considered running two 15 inch speakers, do you think that would cut it for a rock, mainly distorted/fuzzy sound?
Muzz
Yep, I think that'll do you fine - as has been said, the fact that it's a matching cab from the same manufacturer will be the biggest advantage.
Marvin
Go for the matching Laney. You like the sound and at under £200, the price is quite likeable too it seems.
