Cestrian Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 I'm on holiday and I stumbled across a stall selling Cigar Box guitars. Sadly, there were no bass versions available. He seemed dubious as to whether it was possible to produce such a thing. Anyone on Basschat got one, made one? What're they like? Quote
TimR Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Strung tension is an issue on basses. Other than that you can make an electric bass out of absolutely anything. I've seen one made from a length of scrap 2x4. Actually sounded quite good. Quote
ivansc Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Teachest or a plastic garbage can? (Although I think both have been done before ) Quote

Earbrass Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 (edited) Check out youtube videos of Pekko Käppi & K:H:H:L. Can't link to one at the moment as I am at work and YouTube is blocked. The guitar and bass are both "cigar box" instruments. The bass is played by Nuutti Vapaavuori, I believe. EDIT: found a picture: [attachment=224782:KHHL.jpg] Edited August 3, 2016 by Earbrass Quote
