sistercookie Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 (edited) hello, i'm a singer who performs with a quartet (drums, guitar, t. sax & bass). our bass player has left due to other commitments, & we're now on the lookout for a new one. about the music - it's rooted in the sounds of the late '50s - '60s, encompassing jazz, rhythm & blues & soul - as well as a few surprises. we play a mix of original material, obscure covers & one or two well-known covers that you wouldn't necessarily expect. http://www.soundcloud.com/sistercookie about the schedule - we gig fairly regularly - clubs, festivals, the odd wedding/private party - in london, up & down the country & also in europe (mostly spain). about the ££ - most of our gigs pay well, some pay very well, & some are more for the love than the money. about us - i haven't been knocking around quite as long as the rest of the band, but i have spent most of my adult life performing. (here's a detailed bio if you're that interested: http://www.sistercookie.co.uk/bio) the guys have all been in various bands over the last 30 years (e.g. restless, the big six, shout sister shout). we all came together purely by coincidence in recent years & we've been having lots of fun ever since. gigs, recording & all that stuff on the go, so the sooner we find the right missing piece, the better. while none of us are strangers to the biz, we do all have jobs & other responsibilities too. we work hard at this & fit it around the rest of our lives (or the other way around, sometimes). we're committed, but we're not delusional. about you - you've gotta have a deep love & a good feel for this sort of music. you'll be easygoing, up for a laugh & not be weirded out by my dirty jokes. we've used both double bass & bass guitar in the past, & i honestly don't have a preference - it's more about what you feel most comfortable doing & what suits your style of playing better. you'll be based in london, or at least, not too far out - the rest of us are london-based, so it'll make things a lot easier. you'll want to be involved with & committed to this project. you must have your own gear & transport. above all, you've got to be consistent. if all of that doesn't sound too diva-ish & you're interested, please get in touch!
