NancyJohnson Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Well done on getting published! I really believe everyone has a novel in them, it's just the ability to be able to get it down. Hope the Sunn Mustang gets a mention. Quote

mentalextra Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 You didn't need to write a book, you could have just turned it into an endless blog about your 'journey'? Quote
bertbass Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Bought the Kindle version. Not going on holiday but I've just started a new series of 4 but I've got something to read when I've finished them. Quote

discreet Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 (edited) So you're name's not really 'Vader'..? This lack of truth disturbs me... Edited August 12, 2016 by discreet Quote
peteb Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 One thing - without giving any spoilers, to what extent is the main character autobiographical?? Quote
Dave Vader Posted August 12, 2016 Author Posted August 12, 2016
One thing - without giving any spoilers, to what extent is the main character autobiographical??
I am still on my first wife, and have no biological children - two stepkids both grown up and gone now. I'm also quite tall with a lot of hair (and I was a good 5 years younger than him when I started it, crept up a bit since then though). So the baldy double divorcee with kids is in no way me. I've also been playing in bands since I was 12, rather than taking it up late like him. Saying that we have both done a lot of the same stuff, but the main answer is no, not very much at all. He's an amalgamation of a lot of people I have played in bands with over the last few decades. Quote

Roger2611 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Excellent, just about finished my current book (The Story of Crass) so I was looking for a new read..ordered! Quote
discreet Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Ordered the paperback - so I can read it in the bog. Quote
OddBass65 Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 I got the Kindle version, and have finished it in only two sittings, it was that good ! There's certainly a fair few uncomfortably familiar moments in it for all the weekend warriors out there.
I especially loved Bill and his constant quest for 'The Sound' - I was quite worried you'd run out of guitars for him !
A great read, I'll be recommending it to all my musically-inclined friends. Raymondo Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 The book arrived yesterday. I am on chapter Ten and I would like to say.......... You will be hearing from my lawyers in the morning! I didn't give you permission to chronical my life in such detail. Quote
