big rob Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 (edited) Dear All, I have decided to sell my Alembic Mark King, I have to say she is the best bass i have ever owned and would not be parting company if it was not for my bad back, i just need something lighter. She is the 34" scale and has a Californian book matched front which is very distinctive. I have owned her since new (17 years) and there really is not a mark on the bass. Comes with the original hard case, I will be sad to see her go but its not fair for an instrument of this quality to only be used at home (I used to play her live as my main bass for 15 years). Grangur Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 That, Sir is disgustingly gorgeous. You clearly should get a new back and keep the bass.
three Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Just wow! That top is amazing. Have to wonder where Alembic get it from (though one does pay for it!)
4000 Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Aha! As I've said elsewhere Rob, so, so tempting (even more so now).....interesting that you should also own a Dolphin Pro 1 as these were mine back in the day (both sadly long gone):
big rob Posted August 12, 2016 Author Posted August 12, 2016 Great minds think alike 4000. Come on buy it you know it makes sense. 😊
big rob Posted August 12, 2016 Author Posted August 12, 2016 Only cash souls not taken as payment sorry

AndyTravis Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Rob, you say "heavy" what does it weigh in at?
big rob Posted August 13, 2016 Author Posted August 13, 2016 She is not too heavy about 10lbs. That's just too heavy for my back, it's in bits 😕
4000 Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 (edited) That's actually pretty light for a Standard body shape Rob. My Triple O had hollow wings, the Omega cutouts and the smaller knobby headstock I'm pretty sure it was heavier than that. Either way it's too heavy for my back too - I have several prolapsed discs, cervical spondylosis and spinal stenosis - but as I now play seated that's not necessarily a problem. FWIW, I'm currently weighing up my options...... Edited August 13, 2016 by 4000
Cairobill Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 10lbs for an Alembic is pretty featherweight I think!
KUSKU Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 (edited) For me it is the best in Alembic. Edited August 13, 2016 by KUSKU
KUSKU Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 I have a Alembic equal and for those who are interested in this kind of low I've put on my digital scale and are just 4.8 kg.
4000 Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Ah, you snooze, you lose. Was waiting on the result of a sale of my own. Never mind, congrats on the sale Rob!
