Barking Spiders
So then people, friends come round to you gaff and see you bass sitting on its stand. They ask you to play something. Running off a Geddy Lee line probably won't do the job so what would you play, usually something most regular folk would probably know. Oopsdabassist
Ziggy Stardust, one of the few basslines I know that actually mirrors the melody, so people recognise it. Also The Chain ofc!

Marvin
The few people who do visit my place don't even notice my gear, despite it being on full show in the dinning room (which you have to walk through to get everywhere else). Hence, it's not something I've had to ponder
Chaos Daveo
Usually nothing as I fluff things on my own when people put me on the spot. When I'm onstage with the band though I'm fine,I wander round with my wireless and all sorts...

ezbass
I've never been asked by non-musos - such is the lot of a bass player However, if asked, I'd probably go for Wherever I Lay My Hat or Pete Kastner's version of Nardis http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycN9x_5MqHQ Edited August 16, 2016 by ezbass

Worked.
We've done this song from day one, we get comments varying from "can you play it again in memory of my uncle who died at Brands, it was played at his funeral" to "I love the way you put the F1 music at the end of that song!!" Along with Another One Bite the Dust probably one of the most recognisable bass lines ever!!
BigRedX
I don't have, and have never had a party piece. If people really want to know what I can do I'd far rather put on a couple of tracks from what ever I've most recently recorded. At the moment that would be something off this album. I consider my song writing to be far more important than my bass playing abilities.
