I just found this on my ever quest for obscure funk stuff. (Below)..
and thought... wow thats tacky. "1 Funky Album"
so prompted the post.
there has to be loads of really bad LP covers...

Don't know how this got into my Facebook photos, I think someone got it from a bootsale for a crappy birthday present many moons ago! I just loved the way there was no room for orchestra!!!

Although I like the album, the cover is just truly awful in all aspects.
I purposely bought it on picture disc so I didn't have anything to look at when it was playing.

Surprised to see Sabbath's Sabotage in there...I always thought that was a great cover!

Can't think of a really bad album cover from the ones I own, probably because back in the day, album art was such a big part of the purchase.

The Weather Report one in blue with red letters on it shows an amazing lack of effort. I think the album may be called "Weather Report", really? After 12 albums, that's all they could come up with?

What always surprises me about cover are of this calibre is that some people sat together in an office and said 'yep, that's it - that's definitely the cover we want for our new album'

I think it's more likely the fact that they have spent all the budget for the artwork on it, and the only affordable alternative is the name of the artist and the album set in Arial black on a white background.

Well I think it includes the classic cliche's for a rock album cover. The only thing missing is a Viking battle sword and a flaming motorbike!

So very many bad album covers out there.... and, at the risk of judging a book by its cover, probably so many bad albums! But what about good albums with bad covers? Two of my favourite artists are Peter Hammill and Todd Rundgren, and they've both been guilty:
